Voyageur's Hudson Bay Expedition

Who are the Voyageurs of the Hudson Bay Expedition?

They are young men with the love of the wilderness and a sense of adventure. They, unlike many people their age, do not suffer from Nature Deficit Disorder. They have spent years enjoying the wilderness of the Gunflint Trail and surrounding Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park. They have a desire to explore more of the vast wilderness to the North and together they will make the journey from Lake Superior to the Hudson Bay.

Adam Maxwell

Adam Maxwell

Adam started working for Voyageur Canoe Outfitter in the Fall of 2007 and has worked every summer since. He's contributed to the success of Voyageur over the years through his dedication and hard work. Before working here Adam was a guest who came up to the Boundary Waters for canoe trips with his Uncle. He's originally from Crystal Lake, Illinois and is attending Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minnesota. Adam is most looking forward to the sense of true adventure, where paddling and camping will become a way of life, ingrained in him after weeks of travel.

Andrew Spaeth

Andrew Spaeth

Andrew has been a part of the Voyageur Crew since he graduated from High School in 2007. He's been a key employee who most guests know by name as they have seen him every summer since 2007. He is originally from Montevideo, Minnesota and graduated from Bemidji State University in 2010. Andy is looking forward to the pure adventure, amazing fishing, and being away from his cell phone and email while on his canoe journey.

Mike Swenson

Mike Swenson

Mike was a crew member at Voyageur for the summers of 2006 and 2007 and then went to work as a canoe guide at Sommers Boy Scout Base in 2008 and Wilderness Canoe Base in 2010. He is from Plymouth, MN and graduated High School from Maple Grove. In 2010 he graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and is currently working as a Chemist. While he is on his journey this summer he wants to find a place that is truly wild.

Will Tanner

Will Tanner

Although Will has not been a part of the Voyageur Crew he has lived and worked on the Gunflint Trail. Just 3 miles from Voyageur Canoe Outfitters is Wilderness Canoe Base where he worked as a canoe trip guide and stayed through the winter. He graduated High School from New London-Spicer and from St. Olaf College in Northfield in 2010. Will is ready to experience a sense of timelessness on the canoe trip - free from the scheduled hours of the day and is looking forward to discovering the state of mind an eighty-day expedition produces.
